We spend the week waiting for Friday afternoon to arrive so we can enjoy the whole weekend off, but in the end, it turns out that we only take advantage of Saturday, because Sundays are, by tradition, boring. The legend of the silly Sunday afternoon is a reality from which we cannot get rid of, and it does not have a scientific explanation, but it does have a mythical one.
They say that God created the world in six days and that he rested on the seventh; it seems that because he did not find anything to do. So if not even God was able to take advantage of Sunday, what can we expect? Well, we are not going to resign ourselves and we have come up with some ideas to ward off Sunday laziness.
The worst day of the week
- We tend to demonize Monday, presenting it as the worst day of the week. Either because we have to go back to work, because we are afraid of getting up early, or because we are facing a week full of complications. The fact is that we wish that Monday would never come and, nevertheless, on Sunday we sit down to wait for it, letting the hours go by lamenting ourselves because the weekend is over.
- A change of approach is necessary. Yes, that positive attitude that is so talked about cannot be put to rest on Sunday. We have a whole day off ahead of us, so we are going to save the sadness and melancholy for another day, for example, any Tuesday and we are going to enjoy Sunday to the fullest. Turn off the television, because that Sunday afternoon programming is not doing you any good.
- The problem on Sundays usually appears after eating, because many people spend the morning visiting a flea market or having some wine with friends, and it is also customary to go to a family meal. So, what happens on a Sunday afternoon when laziness and laziness overwhelm us and we don’t feel like doing anything at all?
Make the most of Sunday
- From now on it is strictly forbidden to sit on the sofa and watch how the weekend ends. It doesn’t matter if it rains or it’s cold, because it’s our day off and we’re going to take advantage of it. The main thing is to convince the rest of your friends that wasting Sunday on sadness is unforgivable, so the best thing to do is get together for a coffee and discuss Saturday night’s play.
- If your friends aren’t willing to let go of the blanket, I’m sure you’ll find something to do on your own. It may be a good time to go to an exhibition or one of those monuments that you have in your city and never go, or take the opportunity to treat yourself to a movie session and popcorn. If the weather allows it, you can go for a walk in the park listening to your favorite music or, if you decide to get in shape, start running, why not on a Sunday?
- But you can also take advantage of Sunday to enjoy those things that you really like to do. If you have a hobby like painting, knitting, or playing the guitar, reserve Sunday afternoon for those activities, because during the week you surely don’t have time. And if it seems sacrilege to get up from the sofa on a Sunday, at least don’t spend it watching dramas on TV, grab a good book and enjoy a quiet afternoon of reading.
