Today’s society has us immersed in a life of stress, anxiety and haste that cause us endless physical and emotional health problems. Problems for which conventional medicine does not have an easy solution, such as depression, phobias and other emotional disorders.
Thus, more and more people decide to embrace the so-called “slow” way of life in an attempt to curb so much mental and physical imbalance and, when they want to solve a problem, they resort to alternative therapies. The effectiveness of these alternative therapies is more than proven and techniques such as meditation or proposals such as phytotherapy respond to many current needs. Now we discover the healing power of colors or chromotherapy.
Color effects
The healing power of colors is something that has been known since ancient times and little by little, a whole technique has been developed that enhances the effects of colors on our physical and emotional health. There are eight colors used in chromotherapy, each one aimed at a part of our body and an emotional aspect.
- The color red is associated with energy and vigor. It is, therefore, a great stimulator of spirit, as well as blood circulation. Also, red is used as an anti-inflammatory.
- Orange is the color of vitality and optimism. It is mainly used against fatigue, but it is also very effective in respiratory system problems.
- The yellow color gives off joy and energy and is the perfect ally of the nervous system. In addition, the yellow color improves muscle tone.
- Green is the color of calm and balance. Regulates heart and respiratory rhythm and acts as a natural antibiotic.
- The turquoise color, between green and blue, eliminates mental fatigue and favors the renewal of ideas. In addition, it combats the feeling of loneliness.
- Peace and tranquility are enhanced by the color blue, but also freshness and naturalness. In addition to its relaxing properties, it is also a good antiseptic.
- The violet color is the best ally of emotional disorders. It is used to combat phobias or states of anxiety, in addition to promoting sleep.
- Magenta is the color that best fights states of decay and sadness and also increases blood pressure.
How colors are used
- The ways to use these colors for our well-being are varied. Sometimes the treatment consists of color projections on the wall of a room, or on the part of the body that you want to treat. Other times, glass bottles are wrapped in colored paper, left in the sunlight for four hours, and then drink the water. And we can also benefit from chromotherapy through eating according to the colors of the food.
- But what has caught our attention the most is the combination of color therapy with another of the most used natural techniques, aromatherapy, in what is known as chromo essences. Chromo-essences are perfect for harmonizing body and mind, creating a balanced and well-being environment.
